🔥 THIS WEEKEND: Shihan Vassie Naidoo Seminar

Join us for the Seiwakai Northern California Seminar and Black Belt Testing with Vassie Naidoo Hanshi. This is an elite opportunity to refine mechanics and train under international leadership.

Shihan Vassie Naidoo Seminar April 2026
  • Friday, April 17 (6:00 PM): Kick-off at our Menlo Park dōjō (SKSV).
  • Saturday, April 18 & Sunday, April 19: Training continues at our sister dōjō, Tri-Valley Karate, in Pleasanton.

Technical Focus: Sharpening Kata Anan and Pachu

As we move into the Spring quarter, prepare for a rigorous focus on fundamentals. Senior students should take note: we will be working on Kata Anan and Pachu extensively after Yudansha grading and the Gasshuku (seminar) with Vassie Shihan. Approach this season with an “empty cup” and dedication to your basics. They are nearly identical to our adopted Ryuei-Ryu Kata.

Dōjō Resources & Equipment

  • Recommended Do-gi: The Orange Label Mugen dōgi from Ki International is highly recommended for regional seminars. Please contact Ki International directly to order.
  • Bogu Bag: Full protective gear is mandatory for every class. Review our Bogu Bag Guide if you are missing equipment.
  • Club Guide: Use the SKSV Club Guide to verify syllabus requirements for June Kyu Gradings.

Road to Japan & The World Masters Games

August 2026: A delegation will travel to Akita and Yokohama for immersive training and the JKF Gojukai National Tournament. These trips ensure our standards remain tied to our authentic Japanese lineage.

May 2027: We are proud to announce that Sensei Johnpaul has been officially chosen to represent the USA in Kumite at the World Masters Games in Kyoto (aka – the Old People’s Olympics)! Training for this elite global event is already underway. The Kata divisions haven’t yet been announced.

Message from Sensei

“Spring represents growth, but true martial growth only comes from consistently tending to your foundation. Approach this new quarter with an empty cup and a fierce dedication to your fundamentals.”
