Seiwakai Karate Silicon Valley - January Greetings

January 2025 Greeting from Seiwakai Karate Silicon Valley

Happy New Year to all and welcome back!

As we step into a new year, our dojo is buzzing with excitement. The start of the year always brings a wave of new participants as our community returns from the winter holidays. With a full training floor and vibrant energy, let’s prioritize safety and support. By practicing healthy habits—both physically and mentally—we can grow together as better training partners.

What’s on Deck for This Season

1. SKSV Club Guide on Google Books
The SKSV Club Guide is now accessible via Google Books, exclusively for club members! If you’re unable to view it, please request inclusion on the previewers’ list – View the Guide
(Hint: Keep a notebook for your karate journey—it’s invaluable.)

2. Calendar and Training Registration via Menlo Park Recreation
The registration system is back online after recent issues. Use the following links to sign up for classes:

Remember, there is no training on Monday January 20thas the facility is closed.

3. Karate Uniforms from Mugen (Ki International)
Mugen Karate Uniforms (Do-gi) from ” Ki International” in Los Angeles are now shipping faster despite the recent southern California fire challenges. We recommend the “Orange Label” for beginners as it’s the best bang for buck. For inquiries, contact Ki International.

4. Belts from Shureido Japan
Shureido belts are known for exceptional craftsmanship, though delivery may take time. Your patience is appreciated!

5. Upcoming Training Camp and Tournament: Walnut Creek – March 7th and 8th
Mark your calendars for the Walnut Creek training camp and tournament on March 7th and 8th! The training camp is geared for those looking to hone their competitive skills with current coaches from the National Coaching staff. Regular training is sufficient preparation for the competition. I encourage everyone to participate at least once during their karate journey.

7. Dai Nippon Butokuakai – Here I come

I’m out of the Dojo (and country) for training in Kyoto in late April to attend a Budo seminar and demonstrations with the Dai Nippon Butokukai. I’ll miss three classes while away. Please be respectful of the Seniors and Senpai in my absence as they teach and coach while away. They are all sharp and knowledgeable.
