Seiwakai Gojuryu Karatedo Pan-America seminar success!

Seiwakai Gojuryu Karatedo Pan-America seminar success!

First, lets thank Seiichi Fujiwara 藤原聖一 Shuseki Shihan, president of Seiwakai Gojuryu Karatedo, for taking the time to teach on both Friday and Saturday. Let’s also give a huge thanks for Vassie Naidoo Shihan for arranging a great 2 day seminar in liew of our Covid pandemic. Historically, our Pan-American seminars have always been in November and it was great to have this little piece of normality.

Seiichi Fujiwara 藤原聖一 Shihan began class at 10:00 am (Japan time which was 5:00 pm PST) directly from teaching at the Omagari Budokan to the Seiwakai Honbu dojo and, had to return to the Budokan immediately after, for his regular classes. Such dedication is admirable! Although he was near his home (Omagari-cho Daisen-shi Akita-ken) this still took a large part of his day and we are grateful to have such leadership. Approximately 75 Pan-America and international members chimed in for the joint training.

As I previously discussed in our Silicon Valley classes, Seiwakai Gojuryu Karatedo kata (and JKF Gojukai kata) will and are, gradually moving to Okinawa formats. I’ve gone over much of this as “soon to come” revisions with explanations over the past few months. Fujiwara Shihan demonstrated, during the seminar, many of the revisions. Also, the updated basics (kihon) were literally exactly as we have already implemented. We will continue on this same path leading our clubs, not just as ‘up to date’, but “ABOVE THE STANDARDS!” Look for more modifications to come.
